A Winning Pitch
For the first time, Cal State East Bay was invited to participate in the local TiE University competition — a pitch competition for campus based startups — which allows finalists to compete globally.
The project concept envisioned by Natalie Rasmussen, an MBA graduate, is purchasing, refurbishing and giving lightly outfitted used vehicles to unsheltered individuals. This gives them a place to stay, but also a way to get to and from work, paving the road to independence.
2021 Team
Cal State East Bay was once again invited to compete against four California universities:UC Berkeley, University of San Francisco, San Diego State University and Santa Clara University. A team of six Cal State East Bay MBA students started training for the competition in December 2020, bringing expertise from very different educational and work backgrounds.
2020 Team
On February 28, 2020, a group of Cal State East Bay MBA students from our One-Year Intensive MBA and Executive MBA with a concentration in Global Innovation programs competed at Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in the semi-finals for the Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC), a training ground for future venture capitalists. Cal State East Bay students competed against Cornell, Yale, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon, and University of Rochester.
How to Build a Legacy
A world away from Cal State East Bay in bustling Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, is an electronics company with a reach affecting nearly every aspect of daily life. From the electronics in a car to the internal workings of a smartphone or a building’s “green” features, Delta Electronics is leading the charge in advanced electronic products and smart green solutions.
At its helm, Cal State East Bay alum Ping Cheng.
The Transnational Executive MBA (TEMBA)
he Transnational Executive MBA Program was of great importance to the College of Business and Economics. It attracted top students, brought prestige to the university and produced successful tomorrow-makers in the early 2000s. The TEMBA program taught nine cohorts and over 150 graduates from 2001-2006.
TEMBA Alumni Reunion
TEMBA alumni have enjoyed reconnecting at several events on and off campus, including a large reunion in the New University Union in 2014. At that event, Atul Dhablania ’02 (senior vice president and chief operating officer for SonicWall) stepped up to the microphone and made a surprise announcement.
