Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

黑料福利网 has 50 Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging spaces on the Hayward campus and 6 Level 2 spaces on the Concord center.

These EV charging stations are located in the following parking lots: A, D, G, J, K and L. Please view the campus map [PDF] for specific information regarding EV Charger locations on the Hayward campus. The Concord center EV charging stations are located by the main campus entrance close to the Faculty/Staff parking lot. A valid parking permit is required at all times when charging an electric vehicle on the 黑料福利网 Hayward campus only.

 

Do I need to pay to charge my EV?

Yes on November 1, 2019, Cal State East Bay began charging for use of all Electric Vehicle Charging ports located on the Hayward and Concord locations. The charge is necessary to cover costs to the University associated with electricity, maintenance and equipment damage. To use ChargePoint EV charging stations, users must first sign up for a ChargePoint account online at   or call 1-888-758-4389 for driver support.

黑料福利网 Faculty, Staff and Students will receive a discounted rate.* 

The charging rates are as follows:
Community Members (Non-黑料福利网): $0.40 kWh
黑料福利网 Affiliate (Current Faculty, Staff, Students & Auxiliary Employees): $0.32 kWh*

*See Step 3 below. All University faculty, staff & students must enter a valid University email address along with a unique University code that we will provide. Our office will receive a notification to verify that the user is currently associated with the University (students currently enrolled or presently employed faculty/staff). Once approved and we will contact you and the lower $0.32/kWH rate will be charged anytime the Chargepoint card associated is used to charge a vehicle on campus.  Those that do not go through that step, will be charged at the community member rate of $0.40/kWh.

 

Yes, vehicles parked in these spaces MUST be charging. 

  • There are reserved "EV Waiting" spaces that can be used before charging if all EV charging spaces are full, they are located in Lot G (6 spaces) and Lot A (5 spaces).
  • A valid university parking permit is required during hours of enforcement in these spaces at the Hayward Campus only.
  • After charging is complete, please move your vehicle to a regular parking space or you may be subject to citation.

 

You can charge as long as needed. As of March 1, 2025, the policy changed if charging more than 4 hours.

  • Past policy: You were required to move the vehicle or be subjected to a $49 citation.
  • Current policy: Starting March 1, 2025, you will not be required to move if still charging but the rate will double if you continue to charge.

  • After charging is complete, please move your vehicle to a regular parking space or you may be subject to citation.

 

黑料福利网 Affiliate rates: Charging between 1-4 hours $0.32 /kWh, charging more than 4 hours $0.64 /kWh

Community Member rates: Charging between 1-4 hours $0.40 /kWh, charging more than 4 hours $0.80 /kWh

  • University Students, Faculty, Staff and Auxiliary Employees ($0.32/kWh)

    Currently enrolled university students, faculty active on payroll, university staff and auxiliary employees are eligible for EV charging at the reduced rate of $0.32 per kWh with the 黑料福利网 Connection (see Step 3).

     

    Community Members, Guests and Visitors ($0.40 per kWh)

    Community members, campus guests and visitors may charge their electric vehicles at the guest rate of $0.40 per kWh in addition to the required 黑料福利网 parking fees. Please visit the Parking Permit page for the most current parking prices. This EV charging rate will apply to all other users not mentioned above including but not limited to Vendor, Volunteer, Emeriti, Chancellor's Office, other CSU employees, etc.

  • To use ChargePoint EV charging stations, users must first sign up for a ChargePoint account or call ChargePoint Customer Service at 888.758.4389. If you already have a ChargePoint account, please skip to Step 3.

    1. Creating a ChargePoint account
    a. Please visit  and Sign-up (Chrome or Firefox browsers only).

    b. Download the  or request a ChargePoint card that can be mailed to the address provided during registration.

  • Please complete the following steps to establish a connection with 黑料福利网 using the 黑料福利网 Connection Code. This step only applies to university staff, faculty active on payroll, currently enrolled students, and auxiliary employees. All other individuals, please skip to Step 4.

  • Use the following steps to charge your vehicle at the ChargePoint charging stations on campus.

    1. At the charging station

    a. Tap to charge. With the ChargePoint app installed, open the app and hold your phone over the reader symbol on the station. Your payment will be received via credit card or Android/Apple Pay.
    • iPhone: In the ChargePoint app, go to Menu, select Account and then Manage Cards. Pick "set it up,” add your ChargePoint pass to Apple Wallet and tap your phone on the station to charge.
    • Android: Enable NFC, turn your phone screen on and tap your phone on the station to charge.
    • Note: To use tap to charge, you’ll need iPhone SE, 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 7 and 7 Plus running iOS 10 or newer, Apple Watch Series 2, Series 1 and 1st generation or Android 4.4 or later with NFC.
    b. Use the ChargePoint card. Tap your activated ChargePoint card on the card reader symbol on the station.
    c. Contact ChargePoint Customer Service. Call 888.758.4389 to start a charging session over the phone.
    .
    2. Begin charging session
    a. The charging port will be released.
    b. Plug the port into your vehicle to begin charging.
    c. The ChargePoint App can now provide you with updates about your vehicle's charging status and notifications when your vehicle is fully charged.

    3. End charging session
    a. Disengage the port from your vehicle and place it back on the ChargePoint station to end your session
